Thoughts of Autumn

Autumn is coming!

I know, it’s Spring outside and we’re all enjoying the changeable weather, vigourous growth and lush greenery but for me the season for photography is nearly at an end and I start looking forward to the next one which, for me, really kicks off in October. The months of July and August with their often haze laden air coincide conveniently with the busiest time at our gallery and I am happy to spend this time selecting images for print, and making them ready for the walls and exhibition.

My minds eye however is already looking forward to the cooler temperatures, clearer air and sensational change that heralds the start of another eight months of photography. This year I am offering the chance for a small number of people to join me in the great swathe of forest adjoining Shropshire and Worcestershire for unique 1-1 or small group experiences among the trees. Woodland can be a very complex subject to photograph successfully and many people struggle to ‘see’ in what can be a very chaotic and sometimes closed in environment. My plan is to introduce you to the methods I have developed and always employ when I enter a wooded area and to help you better understand how light affects the complexity of a scene giving you the means to make better decisions about what you shoot and how you deploy your camera. Details are available on the workshops page on this site.

Other workshops coming soon;

  1. Hi Richard

    Could you please forward details and costs for the Shropshire and Worcestershire Woodland workshops

    Regards

    Chris Stack

    • Hello Chris, a huge apology for not having replied sooner but unfortunately a huge downside of a blog style website is basically tons of spam comments. I’m afraid this got buried amongst all of that. The woodland workshops are £245 for a full ten hour day. This can be shared with friends if you would prefer or you can have the whole session to yourself. I am just about to offer one of the dates to individuals on a £30 each basis with a maximum group size of eight so there a re plenty of options if you are still interested. Many thanks for your enquiry. Richard
